Culture and values

When Teachiq was founded, the view of the teacher was fundamental - and it still is today. We exist to simplify everyday life for teachers, and those of us who work here see this as an important and meaningful mission.

Another idea that was present from the beginning was the ambition to create the kind of workplace we ourselves would want to be part of - a pleasant environment with thoughtful, capable people.

We have two core values that describe who we are. To thrive and succeed at Teachiq, it is important that these values resonate, and this is something we actively look for in our recruitment processes.

The first is We are genuine , which means that we are honest and place a high value on authenticity. We do not promise more than we can deliver and always strive to build substance before surface.

The second is We play fair. We act with integrity and respect - towards each other and towards the world around us: our users, our customers, our competitors, the public sector. We do not look for loopholes or deliberately misinterpret others to our advantage; instead, we act fairly, with the conviction that this approach pays off in the long run.

All employees are included in our profit-sharing program, and each year 20 percent of our profit is allocated to it.

“I thrive at Teachiq.“

After 25 years as a teacher, I took a leap into the EdTech world. Since 2019, I’ve been part of Teachiq - initially alongside my teaching job - where I developed content for our product KM, a tool I found incredibly useful in my own classroom.

Today, I lead our content team. Our teaching experience allows us to understand teachers’ daily reality and the challenges of assessment work. Being responsible for the content in KM, with its unique and highly appreciated question bank, makes the work deeply meaningful.

My role is diverse and involves close collaboration with colleagues across different teams. I’m constantly impressed by the competence and helpfulness that define the company. Developing tools that make a real difference in teachers’ everyday work is at the heart of Teachiq’s mission.

The best part of my job is that I get to draw on my many years as a teacher every day - and that my experience is genuinely valued. I thrive at Teachiq. The work environment is open, inclusive, and highly collaborative - exactly what it takes to create something truly great together.

As a full-stack developer at Teachiq, I am part of building and shipping applications using a variety of interesting technologies, tools and programming languages. We build web applications as well as native applications, and all developers are welcome to work on both of these types. Our ways of working allow for quick iteration and feedback, and let me constantly improve as a developer and quickly see the results of what we achieve. Great improvement suggestions can be deployed to production on the very same day and immediately bring value to users, which is a very rewarding feeling. We also highly value undisturbed focus time, which is necessary to solve challenging problems.

Having previously worked as a teacher, I know how much time and effort teachers put into their work, and how much they care about their students. Developing software that helps teachers in their work and that facilitates students in their learning process feels fulfilling and meaningful, and motivates me to keep improving as a developer. Teachiq encourages constant learning, and allows me to work with very talented and friendly colleagues that motivate me and help me improve even further.

At Teachiq we have two high-functioning and talented product teams that all share a genuine curiosity and passion for building amazing products. But in order to do so, we need to have that deep understanding of the problems, the needs and desires of teachers and students - in Sweden and abroad. Since several of my colleagues have a teaching background I have direct access to a great source of wisdom in order to understand the realities of the classroom which is great. In my role as a product lead for one of our products I feel very fortunate to work in a field where we have the opportunity to make a significant impact on education globally. If we can build innovative tools and solutions we know that we will make an impact on student outcomes and help address educational challenges. That is one big reason why I love coming to work everyday.

As Head of KM, I have a very varied and stimulating job. My main task is to lead the work for KM so that all parts of the team work towards the same goal, from product to customer success. I can move from detailed discussions about product development to more strategic issues such as business development in the same day. My teaching background is an important asset in my role, not least it is a strong source of motivation - I want to be part of improving the work situation for all teachers.

I have been at Teachiq for many years now and the company has grown a lot since I started in 2017. We are still a relatively small company with a very high commitment to employees, our products and our users. As new professional roles have been added to the company, our work processes have also developed and improved, it is incredibly inspiring and instructive to work in an environment where development is always in focus.
