We're now at a pivotal growth stage with over 55 million student exams performed on Exam.net.

We are looking for a Software Developer to join a friendly and talented development team to accelerate our product development. Situated in central Gothenburg near Stenpiren, we have a hybrid work policy, working on-site three days a week.

About the role

You will be joining five developers, complemented by a team of designers, QA specialists, support, sales and marketing professionals as well as a product manager. In this role, you will:

  • Work with the team on interesting technical challenges to build new features and improve Exam.net.
  • Ensure our platform works well and securely across a wide range of platforms (web browsers, Chromebooks, Apple and Windows devices).
  • Give input to the product manager and team lead to make sure projects have the right balance between scope and time.
  • Write technical designs to explore a range of implementation options and work with the team to decide on the best path forward.
  • Write high quality, well-tested software that reaches an SLA > 99.99%.
  • Own the software you write. Along with the rest of the developers, you are responsible for deploying, monitoring, debugging, and supporting the platform.
  • With guidance from the rest of the team, work on projects end-to-end, from solution exploration and implementation to deployment.

Some of the tools and technologies we use to build the application are the following. We don't require you to have professional experience in all of these but we expect the willingness to learn and work actively with the team to get up to speed:

  • Laravel (a modern PHP framework)
  • Vue.js
  • JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Microsoft Azure (e.g. Containerized App Services, SQLServer and CDN services).
  • Google Cloud Platform (mostly through a few smaller services using Firebase)
  • Testing tools like Playwright, Vitest and Pest.
  • GitHub
  • OpenAI
  • CI/CD
  • SQL
  • Various third-party APIs and SDKs

About you

  • You're hungry for learning and hands-on experience
  • You are excited to work on any part of the application stack (frontend, backend)
  • You have a portfolio of projects or open source contributions that you can talk about
  • You have experience working with third party packages, SDKs, and APIs
  • You don't need to know everything up front — you're comfortable asking questions, eager to learn, and learn quickly.
  • You want to work with other skilled developers and want to receive insights on development and methodologies.
  • You are a self-starter and get things done. You proactively communicate status and blockers and suggest solutions to unblock progress when necessary.
  • You're fast and efficient while delivering high quality work
  • You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and switching contexts throughout the day
  • You appreciate collaboration and seek out feedback on your work
  • Software development isn't just a job but a passion

Experience or interest in security and native iOS development is a plus.
